Can we play baby doll with her?

We made it through our first day at home and even before we got home Claire could not wait to go tell all her little friends about her new baby sister. Her first friend to meet her was our neighbor Erin. Both girls were eat up with excitement in getting to hold Caris and after only a few minutes of Erin holding her, Claire said, very enthusiastically I might add, “Mom can we play baby doll with her?” To which I replied, no girls I’m sorry you can not pay baby doll with her, that is my job. They didn’t seem to mind my reply and went right back to giggling and talking all about how little Caris is and how much they love her already.

It amazes me how much little girls at such a young age have that natural instinct to be mothers and nurturers. I know it doesn’t come natural for some of us “big” girls who find themselves as a mother, but to a little girl, a baby is just about the best thing you could ever give her to play with. They seem to just naturally want to hold, caress, love and kiss on little babies. My son on the other hand, doesn’t mind holding her for a few minutes, but then he is done and ready to go shoot something or throw a ball. And that’s what he did today. He held Caris for a few minutes then was off to play with a neighbor and shoot the air soft gun and play catch.

Our first day home was uneventful and restful. We got home in the morning from the hospital and my mom thankfully took the big kids for the afternoon and Caris and I took a few much needed naps. In the hospital I hoped to have gotten more rest, but with someone checking your vitals every few hours and having to feed the baby, rest wasn’t happening very much.

Our evening ended with a few of our neighbors stopping by to visit  and I snapped a couple more pictures to share with you of our new little girl. She’s changing already.

Thank you again for all your prayers and well wishes. I’m going to go play “baby doll” now:)

Sincerely,
Paige

Sounds like what Mason asked me when he first met Brady “can he play cars with me mom.” Such great pics. I am glad you had a restful first day home.

Most women who have delivered children find your 15 minute delivery time for Caris “obscene”. LOL
What a treasure you have . Thinking of you .
