It’s now day 13 of the Daniel Fast. If your just stopping by and haven’t heard the latest, I joined with Jentezen Franklin pastor of Free Chapel Church, a few friends family members and thousands of other strangers in a 21 day fast. I’ve chosen to do the Daniel Fast which is basically no sugar, meat, caffeine or dairy products for 21 days. We’re over the half way point and on the home stretch this coming week.

As I’ve said no to all those delicacies I’ve loved, God has not only opened my eyes to new foods in the grocery store, but he has opened my spiritual eyes to see things I’ve missed for quite a while. I think the biggest lesson has been on the power God wants to give you when you spend time in his presence.

We all want or need power to accomplish the things that are in our life on a daily basis, but some things are just about impossible with out power from a supernatural resource. For instance, I can not change my children or my husbands attitude when they want to be in a bad mood. But what I can do is pray for God to use me or someone or something that will speak to them in a language they understand that will help them change. I’ve seen this past week God use the most random things to speak truth into my husbands life, meanwhile I’ve tried saying the same things for months. I’ve also seen through this fast, that God cares way more about the outcome of situations in my life than I do and if I will just chill out and seek him on my hearts desires then he will, in his perfect timing, answer them.

Ephesians 3:20 says, ” Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” I am continuing to pray and ask God to fill me up with his power and for him to show up in ways greater than I could ever imagine.

How about you? How are you holding up during this fast? If you haven’t started yet, then now is just as good of a time as any, especially if your needing some breakthrough in an area of your life. God wants to do big things in our lives this year and for you to know him on a personal level like never before. Keep up the great work if you are one of the ones fasting and please share any great reports.

P.S. As far as the craving go, they are still there, but they have lost a lot of the power and appeal in 13 days. As for what I have been eating, well, lots of beans, potatoes, chives, oranges, grapefruit, raisins, nuts, water with lemon or lime, brown rice, hummus and smoothies made with strawberries, bananas and soy milk. Feel free to share as well any recipes you might have found that are sugar, meat, white flour and dairy free:)

I love this Paige – please tell me you are able to go to the conference “For The Girls International” over the 12th of Feb. in St. Pete – I sent you messages about it… You woyld get so much out of it, but mostly, you would be a huge asset to their team! (In many ways) Pray about and see if you can get a girlfriend to go with you – I promise – it will be a landmark in your amazing journey on sharing your faith with others – let me know if you want to know more details. Keep up the fast – I may check into that one myself!!!

Yep, surprisingly, still holding up. One week to go. Woo hoo! I agree with you Paige on the part about learning about different foods. I’ve learned a lot. One of the things I’m praying about is my marriage. God is definitely moving there. It’s awesome. I accidently drank a couple sips of fruit punch last week. Didn’t realize it until about 10 minutes later. Oh well. I was really thirsty and we were in the hospital, so circumstances were not the norm. So, my menu has consisted mostly of: potatoes, strawberries, grapes, grits, triscuits, apples, dark leafy salad with grapes and walnuts. This week will be a lot of beans and brown rice. Then, Sunday, after church I’m gonna stop and pick up a bag of powdered donuts and oreos. Ha ha. 6 more days.
