Fully Persuaded

Last night I pulled out my fancy new bible and did the flip test. That’s where you flip open the bible and see if anything you read jumps off the page at you. Not literally jumps of course, but figuratively some words stand out more than others. If you haven’t tried this I recommend it for the seasoned reader of the bible and for those opening it for the first time. There are many other ways you can study the bible, but this is just the method I chose last night.

Anyway, this time I opened to Romans 4 :18-20. It was talking about Abraham being justified through faith. Abraham was a great man of God who is often called the father of many nations. You might even remember the tune as a child that goes something like this, “father Abraham had many sons, many sons had father Abraham. I am one of them and so are you, so let’s all praise the Lord.” (Sorry, now you won’t be able to get that out of your head if you know that song.)

Back to the point now,  in Romans 4 it says that Abraham did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God. Being fully persuaded that God had the power to do what he had promised. (vs 20-21)

After reading this, I had the thought, am I fully persuaded about anything that God promises or do I partner with unbelief? Am I fully persuaded God knows all my needs and will provide for each one of them? Am I fully persuaded that the creator of the universe wants to be my friend and just hang out with me? Am I fully persuaded like Jeremiah 29 :11 says that God really does know the plans he has for me, plans to prosper me and not to harm me, plans to give me a hope and future?

If I’m not fully persuaded God has the power to do what he has promised, then I must be fully persuaded that he can’t. With that said, I want to ere on the side of belief and be fully persuaded like Abraham. Not that Abraham’s life (like my own) wasn’t full of failures, mistakes and sins, but his life was an example of faith in action. He was fully persuaded by almighty God, obeyed him and waited for God to fulfill his word.

What about you? Are you fully persuaded God has the power to do what he has promised you? I would love to know your thoughts so think about this and bless someone with your thoughts on this matter in a comment. Thanks:)

Sincerely,
Paige
